- Verified concern. The check engine light is on and flashing and the engine is running rough. It is more noticeable at idle. Fault codes P0300 and P0304 are stored in the engine control module cylinder 4 is misfiring all the time. Swapped ignition coil and spark plug from cylinder 4 to cylinders adjacent to cylinder 4 that were not misfiring to see if the misfire would follow. It did not make a difference. Cylinder 4 is still misfiring. Checked compression on all 8 cylinders. Cylinder 4 compression is 115 psi compared to 160 to 180 psi on the other 7 cylinders. Recommend to perform a tear down inspection to check internal parts to determine the cause of the low compression in cylinder 4. Also gave the customer the option to replace the engine with a crate motor from GM. Customer declined repairs at this time. Re assembled vehicle back to the same condition it came in as. No repairs performed at this time.
- Verified concern. Engine is leaking oil. It looks like the rear main seal is leaking and also the front crankshaft seal. Recommend remove and replace rear main seal and front crankshaft seal and re evaluate after cleaning. Customer declined repair at this time. No repairs performed at this time. Customer picked up vehicle as is.
