- Verified check engine light is on. Fault code P0342 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Low Bank 1 or Single Sensor, is stored in the engine control module. Mercedes dealer diagnosed already. Customer requested that we replace the Bank 1 Intake Camshaft Position Sensor.
- Removed and replaced Bank 1 Intake Camshaft Position Sensor – right side. Cleared fault code in engine control module. When the vehicle was started for the first time after replacing the bank 1 intake camshaft position sensor, a new fault code was stored in the engine control module. Fault code P002177 The Position of the Intake Camshaft (Cylinder Bank 2) Deviates from the Specified Value. The commanded position cannot be reached. – Current, Pending. Cleared fault code. Road tested vehicle about 12 miles. Check engine light did not come back on. Fault codes did not re appear. Vehicle is operating correctly. Advised customer that if the check engine light comes back on to return vehicle for diagnosis.
